Discover the Unique Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Still Bend Home in Two Rivers, Wisconsin

If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind Airbnb experience within driving distance from Chicago, look no further than the Still Bend home in Two Rivers, Wisconsin. This exceptional property, recently featured as a favorite Airbnb by a Condé Nast Traveler reporter, has been hailed as the perfect Midwest getaway.

Designed by renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright, the Still Bend home offers much more than just a place to stay. According to Kristine Hansen, an architect reporter for Condé Nast Traveler, staying in this house is like immersing yourself in a true work of art. The experience is truly unforgettable.

NBC Chicago also had one of their reporters stay in the Still Bend home earlier this year, and the reporter was blown away by the experience. Even with prior knowledge of Frank Lloyd Wright’s designs, they were not prepared for the impact the house had on them.

Located about a mile from Lake Michigan, this historic home is featured on Netflix’s “The World’s Most Amazing Vacation Rentals.” It was built based on Frank Lloyd Wright’s LIFE Magazine “Dream House” design from 1938. At that time, LIFE Magazine had commissioned several architects, including Wright, to create house plans for various income levels. The Blackbourn family, with an income range of $5,000 to $6,000 a year, selected Wright’s modern design, but unfortunately, they were unable to build it.

Years later, Bernard Schwartz, a businessman from Two Rivers, Wisconsin, took on the challenge of building the Frank Lloyd Wright masterpiece for his own family. Some modifications were made during the construction process, and Wright also designed furniture and finishing touches that perfectly complement the house.

After just two previous owners, Gary and Michael Ditmer became the current owners of the Still Bend home. They have lovingly restored and cared for the property and decided to make it available for rent so that others can experience the magic of living in a Frank Lloyd Wright-designed masterpiece.

The listing on Airbnb describes the house as a place where every turn reveals a new detail that showcases Wright’s genius. Guests can spend quiet evenings around the fireplace and marvel at the fact that they are living in a true work of art. The experience of being in a Wright space is often described as transformative and even spiritual.

The Still Bend home has attracted significant attention over the years, and it is available for rent at $595 per night, with a minimum of two-night stays. Rates may vary depending on the time of year and the number of occupants.

If you’re seeking a truly unique and inspiring getaway, don’t miss the opportunity to stay at the Still Bend home. Discover Frank Lloyd Wright’s vision for the ideal American family living space, immerse yourself in his genius, and leave transformed.
