At that time, LIFE Magazine had commissioned several architects, including Wright, to create house plans for various income levels. The Blackbourn family, with an income range of $5,000 to $6,000 a year, selected Wright’s modern design, but unfortunately, they were unable to build it.
Years later, Bernard Schwartz, a businessman from Two Rivers, Wisconsin, took on the challenge of building the Frank Lloyd Wright masterpiece for his own family. Some modifications were made during the construction process, and Wright also designed furniture and finishing touches that perfectly complement the house.
After just two previous owners, Gary and Michael Ditmer became the current owners of the Still Bend home. They have lovingly restored and cared for the property and decided to make it available for rent so that others can experience the magic of living in a Frank Lloyd Wright-designed masterpiece.
