Bad Bunny’s Coachella set makes history.

Bad Bunny Takes Center Stage at Coachella

Bad Bunny was one of the most eagerly awaited acts at this year’s Coachella festival, and he didn’t disappoint. The Puerto Rican reggaeton megastar performed a two-hour set of his biggest hits on Friday, paying tribute to trailblazing Latino artists in the process.

With tracks like “Vete” and “Titi Me Pregunto” setting the crowd alight, the show also featured footage contextualizing the history of Latin American music. Like many performers at Coachella, Bad Bunny was joined on stage by special guests, including Post Malone, who paid tribute to the artist with an acoustic rendition of “La Cancion.”

Bad Bunny’s headline performance was a first for a Spanish-language and Latin American artist, and cemented his position as one of the biggest acts on the planet.

Blink-182 and Blondie Bring Nostalgia to the Festival

Before Bad Bunny took to the stage, Coachella festival-goers enjoyed a surprise headline set from Blink-182, their first with the original lineup in almost a decade. The pop-punk legends belted out hits like “The Rock Show” and “What’s My Age Again,” and had the crowd singing along to “All The Small Things” at the close.

Later, the audience was treated to a blockbuster set from Blondie, with guest Nile Rodgers joining the iconic group on stage.

A Diverse Lineup Showcases Global Talent

While legacy acts like Blink-182 and Blondie drew huge crowds, Coachella’s lineup was notably diverse this year, featuring acts from around the world. Belgium’s Angele made her festival debut, while Nigeria’s Burna Boy and Los Angeles’ Becky G also took to the stage.

Latinx artists were particularly well represented at this year’s Coachella, with performers including Eladio Carrion, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, and Grammy-winner Kali Uchis. The festival also made history by featuring no white headliners, with K-pop sensations Blackpink and elusive R&B artist Frank Ocean topping the bill.

International Acts Round Out the Weekend

As well as the acts mentioned above, Coachella’s international roster this year includes Spanish phenomenon Rosalia and Icelandic icon Bjork. Fans will also get to see Jai Paul’s first public performance and Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh’s historic debut at the festival.

With American indie rock supergroup boygenius and Charli XCX also on the bill, the weekend promises to be a truly global event.
