Rural businesses win with this game plan.

Improving Alabama’s Business Climate

Over the past eight years, Alabama has taken significant steps to improve its business climate by creating and implementing economic development incentive programs like the Alabama Jobs Act and the Growing Alabama Act. With these programs, counties across the state have received substantial capital investment in their economy, resulting in the creation of more jobs – both directly and indirectly – for their citizens.

Impact in Cullman County

The impact of these programs in Cullman County is particularly noteworthy. This legislation has incentivized and activated several companies and projects, resulting in over $199 million in capital investment and creating over 650 jobs in the area. HomTex, Inc., for instance, established 100 jobs as part of a $5 million project in the county. Other major companies that have benefited from these programs include REHAU Construction, Topre America Corporation, Royal Technologies Corporation, Reliance Worldwide Corporation, REHAU Automotive LLC, and North Alabama Fabricating Company, Inc.

The Importance of Rural Economic Development

Economic development in rural areas can be particularly challenging, but high-impact businesses in these communities can be game-changers. It is therefore encouraging to see that our state’s leaders have recognized this potential and are working actively to position rural Alabama for these kinds of projects and the jobs that come with them. Through legislation like Governor Ivey’s “Game Plan,” rural Alabama will continue to thrive.

Bipartisan Support for Economic Development

The importance of economic development in Alabama has been recognized across the aisle, and the Business Council of Alabama has made it their top legislative priority this session. Legislative leaders on both sides of the aisle have supported Governor Ivey’s package, and Cullman’s Senator Garlan Gudger is committed to enhancing our business community.

The Importance of Economic Incentives

In order to compete with neighboring states in recruiting new companies to do business in Alabama, our state must continue to strengthen and renew its economic incentives. Through Governor Ivey’s legislative package, our state’s economy will continue to thrive, benefitting our workforce and delivering innovative solutions not just across the region, but also the country and the world.
