3.2-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Carbon County, Montana
On Friday afternoon, a 3.2-magnitude earthquake struck near Edgar, causing shaking in numerous homes and businesses.

The U.S. Geological Survey website confirmed that the earthquake occurred at 1:57 p.m. The epicenter was located three miles north-northwest of Edgar.
Reports of “Large Explosion”
Before the earthquake was officially confirmed, the Carbon County Sheriff’s office received several calls reporting a “large explosion” in the north end of the county.
Extent of Shaking
Comments on the sheriff’s office social media post indicate that the earthquake was felt as far north as Park City and as far south as Bridger.
