NASCAR champion Kurt Busch is looking forward to the upcoming NASCAR Chicago Street Race and hopes to make a return trip this summer. In an exclusive interview with NBC Chicago, Busch expressed his eagerness to be a part of the event, whether he’s in the car or not.
Working Hard to Get Back to 100%
Busch stepped away from full-time racing after being injured in a crash in July 2023. Despite still dealing with the lingering effects of a concussion, Busch is working hard to get back to 100% for the street race. While a return to full-time racing may not be in the cards, Busch is excited to take on the unprecedented course for NASCAR.
Ultimate Chicago Sports Fan’s Dream
Busch is currently in the Windy City for 48 hours of sports-filled fun, living out the ultimate Chicago sports fan’s dream in partnership with Toyota. His itinerary includes attending a number of sporting and promotional events, as well as learning about preparations for the street race.
Personal Connections to the City
Busch has personal connections to the city, making the trip even more special. He is a member of 23XI, a NASCAR team co-owned by Michael Jordan. Busch expressed his pride in racing for the “greatest of all time”. He also revealed that his family is from Chicago and that he loves the city.
Exciting Times for the City
Busch is particularly excited about the potential move of the Chicago Bears to Arlington Heights. He believes the change and newness will be absorbed by all Chicagoans with pride.
