New movies, music, television shows, and video games are coming to various streaming services and platforms this week. Here are some of the most notable releases:
New Movies to Stream
– “Ghosted” is a rom-com/action thriller film set to premiere on Apple TV+ on Friday. Directed by “Rocketman” director Dexter Fletcher, the film stars Ana de Armas and Chris Evans as two people who go on a first date but end up getting caught up in an international spy mission.
– “No Bears” is a film from Iranian director Jafar Panahi that will be available on the Criterion Channel starting on Tuesday. The film follows Panahi as he tries to remotely direct a movie while in prison in Tehran.
– “Judy Blume Forever” is a bio-doc about the beloved author of many popular children’s books. The film includes interviews with Blume and her fans and will be released on Prime Video on Friday.
New Music to Stream
– Rodrigo y Gabriela, the duo of guitar virtuosos known for blending Spanish melodies and thrash metal, are back with a new album called “In Between Thoughts… A New World.” The album, which includes electronic and orchestral elements, will be available on Friday.
– Everything But the Girl, the U.K. group behind the hit “Missing,” are releasing their first studio album in over 20 years. Called “Fuse,” the album features 10 new tracks and was created with an open, playful spirit that allowed for experimentation.
– The Heavy, known for the song “How You Like Me Now?,” are releasing their first album in four years, “Amen.” The album includes 10 new songs, including “Stone Cold Killer,” which was inspired by guitarist Dan Taylor’s kitten.
New Television to Stream
– “Home in a Heartbeat” is a new HGTV show debuting on Wednesday that features design expert Galey Alix renovating homes for followers she’s connected with on social media.
– “Mrs. Davis” is a new sci-fi show on Peacock that stars Betty Gilpin as a nun out to destroy a powerful artificial intelligence known as Mrs. Davis. The show was created by Damon Lindelof and premieres on Thursday.
– “The Diplomat” is a new Netflix series starring Keri Russell as a career envoy who gets reassigned as the U.S. ambassador to the UK. The eight-episode season premieres on Thursday.
New Video Games to Play
– “Minecraft Legends” is a new game that turns the popular sandbox game into a battleground, with players uniting to defend against enemy outposts. The game is available on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and PC starting on Tuesday.
– “The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story” is a new 2D role-playing adventure set in a kingdom where sorcery has been banned. The game follows Sylas, a mage who is determined to liberate his fellow spell-wielders. It will be available on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and PC starting on Tuesday.
– “Dead Island 2” is a long-awaited sequel to the popular zombie game, set in Los Angeles. The game promises plenty of gory violence and weapon-building as players fend off the undead. It will be available on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC starting on Friday.
