Sports Courts to be Built in Elizabeth Township
On Saturday, Elizabeth Township held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of five new sports courts. The courts will be built in Mount Vernon Fields and will include two youth basketball courts and three pickleball courts.
Collaboration between Multiple Groups
The project was made possible through the collaboration of three groups: local youth sports organizations, Elizabeth Township officials, and Olympus Energy. “It took a lot to get going. It was nice to get all three entities together on this project,” said Chris Thoma, Elizabeth Township commissioner.
Pickleball Gains Popularity Among Seniors
The goal of the project is to cater to all age groups, including seniors who are taking an interest in playing pickleball. The sport has gained popularity among older individuals and the group wanted to ensure that they are also represented in the new sports courts.
