Bob Lee killed in sister argument.

Cash App Founder Fatally Stabbed in San Francisco

The founder of the popular money transfer service, Cash App, was fatally stabbed in San Francisco by an IT consultant, according to court documents obtained by NBC News. Bob Lee was killed after an argument about the suspect’s sister turned violent. The suspect, Nima Momeni, drove Lee to a secluded area and stabbed him with a kitchen knife, puncturing Lee’s heart. Momeni was arrested after a nine-day manhunt and faces 26 years to life behind bars for murder.

Speculation of Random Act of Violence Debunked

Rumors of Lee’s death as a random act of violence were debunked when it was revealed that he and Momeni knew each other. Elon Musk drew condemnation from the district attorney when he tweeted that the killing was the result of “repeat violent offenders.”

Suspect is an IT Entrepreneur

Momeni describes himself as an entrepreneur on LinkedIn and lists himself as the owner of a tech company called Expand IT Inc. However, the University of California, Berkeley, has no record of his name as a graduate or attendee.

Victim was a Prominent Figure in Tech Industry

Before starting Cash App, Lee was the chief technology officer of Square (now Block), a fintech co-founded by former Twitter head Jack Dorsey. Lee was also an investor in Musk’s SpaceX venture and other tech companies, including the social audio app Clubhouse.

This is a developing story, please stay tuned for updates.
