Top NFL teams to bet against in 2023.

Worst Five Teams ATS in 2022:

Last season, we discussed the top five teams ATS and analyzed their potential to beat the spread in 2023. Now, let’s shift our focus to the worst five teams ATS from last season and make a case for why bettors can expect them to cover the spread more often in 2023.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-13-1)

Cash: Despite having Brady under center, the Buccaneers scored only half as many touchdowns as the Chiefs last season. While Brady may not be there anymore, bettors can expect the offense to be slightly less productive. The larger spreads set by bookmakers might give bettors an advantage.

Coaster: The Buccaneers’ defense, although talented, has struggled in the past. They allowed over 170 rushing yards to six different running backs last season. Additionally, their defense ranked poorly against opposing No.2 and No.3 receivers. This could hinder their ability to cover the spread consistently.

Chicago Bears (5-11-1)

Cash: The Bears have made significant improvements by adding new starters through trades, free agency, and the draft. With Fields potentially making strides at quarterback, the Bears have the talent to be competitive and cover the spread in many games.

Coaster: The odds of Fields leading the league in passing are substantially lower than leading in rushing. This raises concerns about the Bears’ ability to win games solely through their passing game.

Indianapolis Colts (6-11-0)

Cash: The Colts have a manageable schedule ahead, with games against several quarterbacks who don’t pose significant threats. This favorable schedule could give the Colts an opportunity to cover the spread.

Coaster: The Colts have a rookie quarterback who, although athletic, lacked accuracy in college. Combined with an offensive line that underperformed last season, the team may face difficulties scoring points and covering spreads.

Seattle Seahawks (7-11-0)

Cash: The Seahawks strengthened their defense through the draft and free agency, acquiring skilled players in the secondary. Additionally, their offense has ample weapons. These factors suggest the Seahawks could cover the spread in many games.

Coaster: Despite a strong start last season, the Seahawks struggled to cover the spread in the latter half. Uncertainty surrounding their quarterback’s performance raises questions about their ability to consistently cover the spread.

Los Angeles Rams (6-9-2)

Cash: The Rams may be less talented compared to the previous season, but a healthy Cooper Kupp and Matthew Stafford could surprise bettors occasionally. They might even secure backdoor covers in certain games.

Coaster: In order to cover the spread frequently, the Rams would heavily rely on backdoor covers. However, considering their eight double-digit losses from last season and a decrease in talent, it may be challenging for them to consistently cash tickets.

Will these teams defy their previous ATS performances and cover more spreads this season? Or will bettors be left with useless tickets? It’s an exciting prediction to make, so sit back, enjoy the games, and embrace the thrill of the gamble.
