Scooter Wins “World’s Ugliest Dog” Contest
7-year-old Chinese Crested dog named Scooter emerged as the winner of the “World’s Ugliest Dog” contest. Despite his reversed hind legs and nearly bald appearance, Scooter showcased the unique beauty that comes with imperfections. The contest, held in Petaluma, Calif., aims to celebrate the distinctive qualities that make all dogs special and promote adoption.
Scooter’s Journey to Success
Scooter’s story is one of resilience and determination. Initially brought to an animal control facility with intentions of euthanasia due to his deformed hind legs, Scooter defied all odds. His owner, Linda Elmquist, expressed her joy and pride in Scooter’s victory, highlighting his ability to inspire countless people worldwide.
Runners-Up
In second place, a 7-year-old Pekingese named Wild Thang captivated the judges with his glamorous and uniquely ugly charm. After contracting distemper as a puppy, his teeth failed to grow, leading to a protruding tongue and constant paddling of his right front leg. The third-place winner was a 16-year-old Chihuahua named Harold Bartholomew. Despite being blind and deaf, Harold has dedicated himself to animal rescue and serves as an inspiration for others.
