Winter Park Institute Hosts Event with Arthur C. Brooks
Winter Park Institute is kicking off a new year of informational programming with an evening of uplifting discussion. Author and Harvard professor Arthur C. Brooks will lead the February 27 event at Dr. Phillips Center’s Steinmetz Hall.
Brooks has dedicated his career to studying methods of improving personal and professional happiness through behavioral research and philosophical study. His work, including a weekly column in The Atlantic and 13 books, focuses on ways to counter feelings of negativity and isolation in modern culture.
The event, titled Build the Life You Want: How to Get Happier in an Unhappy World, aims to provide insights and strategies for building a more fulfilling life in challenging times.
Winter Park Institute’s Mission and Leadership
Winter Park Institute, founded by Rollins College in 2007, has a long history of promoting scholarly discourse through its Speaker Series events. After a pause due to pandemic restrictions in 2020, the Institute underwent a transition of ownership and achieved 501(c)(3) status in 2021.
Under the leadership of GladdeningLight founder Randall Robertson, the Institute continued to evolve, with Lauren Zimmerman of Writer’s Block Bookstore taking the reins in 2022. The Institute’s new Board, with Zimmerman as co-executive director, is committed to fostering community dialogue and addressing important issues in Winter Park and Central Florida.
Upcoming Events and Partnerships
Winter Park Institute’s 2024 events will cover a range of topics, including discussions on leadership, technology, and creativity. Partnerships with Dr. Phillips Center, Rollins College, Winter Park Library, All Saints Church, and the City of Winter Park ensure access to venues that meet diverse attendance needs.
