France Prevails Over Ireland in UEFA 2024 Euro Qualifier
The Republic of Ireland and 2023 FIFA World Cup runner-up France faced off in Dublin for another UEFA 2024 Euro qualifier. France dominated the game from the jump, however Ireland did not put up an easy fight.
A tightly contested game was played between the two sides as both teams battled hard to win the match. France, however, showed their class and came out on top with a 1-0 win over Ireland.
The First Half
Both sides had a slow start as they struggled to create clear-cut chances. Despite some good build-up play, both teams lacked the final touch to test each other’s keepers. However, the game’s intensity increased as half-time approached, and the two teams went into the break with a goalless scoreline.
The Second Half
The second half started with France dominating the proceedings, and they were rewarded for their efforts with a goal in the 50th minute. Benjamin Pavard scored a stunning right-footed shot from outside the box to put France in the lead.
Ireland, however, did not give up and continued to push forward to get an equalizer. The game opened up in the second half, and both teams created several opportunities to score. In the 90th minute, Ireland’s Nathan Collins had a great chance to score with a powerful header, but France’s keeper Mike Maignan came up with a remarkable save to deny Ireland a goal.
The Final Result
The game ended with France winning 1-0, showing their title-winning pedigree from the 2018 World Cup. Even though Ireland fought hard, France’s overall class and quality proved too much for them to handle.
