Stephanie Jones is working to address the lack of diversity and representation in the US travel industry. As the founder and CEO of Cultural Heritage Economic Alliance and Blacks in Travel & Tourism, she has been advocating for the inclusion of Black voices and creating programs to develop Black leaders in the industry. Through her efforts, she has partnered with small Black tour suppliers to offer innovative Black cultural heritage tours, which have brought in revenue and visitors to communities of color. Jones was also appointed to the US Department of Commerce’s Travel and Tourism Advisory Board, where she actively participates and ensures that Black voices are heard. She believes that the industry needs to recognize the importance of diversity and intentionally include Black professionals. Additionally, she has formed alliances and partnerships, such as a cross-cultural exchange program with Visit South Africa, to support and promote Black-owned businesses in the US and South Africa. Overall, Jones is determined to make the travel industry more inclusive and equitable for all.
