Prenatal Education
The Prenatal Education class at Tennova Healthcare-Clarksville is designed for expectant parents. This comprehensive class covers a wide range of topics including the anatomy and discomforts of pregnancy, labor and delivery policies and procedures, labor coping techniques, medical pain relief, newborn care, postpartum recovery, and more. The class is scheduled over a four-week period, taking place on Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. It starts on the first Wednesday of each month, with the first class starting on August 2. Registration for the class is open until January.
Baby Basics Class
The Baby Basics class is specifically designed to prepare new parents for their upcoming journey. This interactive class covers essential information such as feeding, holding, swaddling, infant safety, safe sleep, bathing, comforting your infant, and how to recognize signs of illness. Expectant parents will also have the opportunity to practice diaper changing and swaddling. The Baby Basics class is offered twice a month, starting on August 14 and continuing until November 13. Each session lasts for an hour and a half and begins at 6 p.m.
Breastfeeding
The breastfeeding class at Tennova Healthcare-Clarksville provides expectant mothers with the basics of breastfeeding to help prepare them for their breastfeeding journey. Topics covered in this class include positioning and latch, feeding cues, feeding frequency, and how to tell if your baby is getting enough milk. The class is offered one Thursday a month, from August 17 to November 9, and takes place from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Infant Massage
Tennova Healthcare-Clarksville offers an Infant Massage class that provides guided instruction to parents on how to perform infant massage. Infant massage is a gentle and beneficial practice that fosters bonding and overall well-being for both the parent and the baby. The class is offered once a month on Thursdays at 11 a.m. and lasts for two hours. The classes for the Infant Massage course start on August 10 and continue on September 7, October 5, and November 2.
Sibling Preparation
The Sibling Preparation class helps children who are two and a half years or older to get ready for becoming big brothers or sisters. This one-hour class takes place one Saturday a month, from August 26 to December 30. It covers various topics, including newborn appearance, behavior, and abilities, what it’s like being a sibling, ways siblings can help with the baby, and the importance of sibling relationships.
