Africa: Braai

Braai refers to South Africa’s infamous cooking style that involves flame-grilled meats and sausages over wood embers. Visiting a braai is all about sharing a unique love for meat in a casual atmosphere, which is why looking out for local butcheries or meat markets is a must when exploring this food tradition. Besides various types of beef, pork, ostrich, or goat meats, a proper braai, also comprises dried meat strips, yummy side dishes like barbequed sweetcorn, abachas cabbage or potato casserole.

Turkey: Yoghurt and Chops

Who isn’t familiar with Turkey’s exotic culinary charms? From appetizing kebabs to mouthwatering baklavas, the Turks pack a punch when it comes to royalty-like food treats. However, people often forget that the Turkish eat Yoghurt with practically everything! The yogurt here is thick and luscious, devoured as a condiment, sauce or even a side take a bite of fried liver or lamb chops. Many dishes consist of “yoghurt sauce” that gives a creamy ally to everything savoury in Turkish cuisine.

Scotland: Haggis

This delicate Scottish delicacy is admittedly odd but quite dear to the Scots, entranced by its hearty taste with a challenging list of ingredients. Haggis is a captivating blend of diced heart, lungs and liver of a sheep mixed with herbs, spices, breadcrumbs, and broth-stuffed inside of the sheep’s stomach. Despite the initial “ick” factor, it’s a must-try if you travel to Scotland. There is even an annual Burns supper celebration every January to dedicate the dish.

India: Thalis

India holds a rich food culture known for incorporating robust flavors and textures that change wildly based on region – it can be challenging to focus on a particular dish. A Thali is the most comprehensive way to explore the country’s culinary options. Here’s what you need to do – hop into an Indian restaurant and choose your Thali; the server shall bring you a huge platter with rice, pulses, chapatti (bread), curries, chutneys, and even desserts. It’s a fantastic food exploration- every bite different from the next.

Mexico: Tacos

Taco explosions commenced all around the globe a few years back, permeating our palates with the savory takeaway snack consisting of small tortillas filled with flavour combinations galore. Mexico apprises the traditional methods of cooking the staple snack easier.
