Summer destinations: Pools, splash pads, waterparks welcome!

Public Pools and Water Parks in Richland County

Looking for a way to beat the heat? Richland County offers several public pools and water parks where you can enjoy a cool dip. Whether you’re looking for a lazy river or water slides, there’s something for everyone.

Fort Jackson

Palmetto Falls Water Park – 6511 Strom Thurmond Blvd., Building 6511

Palmetto Falls Water Park is a popular attraction with a range of amenities. It features a family pool, two water slides, a splashdown pool, a kiddy pool, a lazy river, and a snack bar. In addition to the water park, Fort Jackson also has two pools, Legion Pool and Knight Indoor Pool. For season hours and pricing, visit jackson.armymwr.com.

Pools operated by Richland County

If you prefer to enjoy a swim in a public pool, Richland County offers open access to their pools with free pool memberships. To learn more, visit richlandcountyrecreation.com.

St. Andrews Park Pool (920 Beatty Rd.) and Trenholm Park Pool (3900 Covenant Rd.) – These pools are open from Tuesday to Saturday, 1 to 6 p.m., starting from June 7.

Eastover Pool (1301 Main St.) and Hopkins Park Pool (150 Hopkins Park Rd.) – Both pools are open from Wednesday to Saturday, 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., starting from June 7.

Pools operated by City of Columbia

The City of Columbia offers free access to their splash pads and pools. The swimming season starts from May 27 and ends on Labor Day, September 4. For pool ticket information, policies, and rules, visit parksandrec.columbiasc.gov.

Maxcy Gregg Pool – 1655 Park Circle

The regular hours for Maxcy Gregg Pool during the swimming season are Monday to Thursday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sundays from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., and closed for maintenance on Fridays. The pool also remains open on Independence Day and Labor Day.

Greenview Pool – 6700 David Street

Greenview Pool follows regular hours during the swimming season. It is open from Tuesday to Friday, 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sundays from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., and closed for maintenance on Mondays. The pool also remains open on Independence Day and Labor Day.

Spray pools

Lorick Park (1600 Lorick Ave.) and Pinehurst Park (2300 Pinehurst Rd.) offer free public spray pools. The spray pools are open from Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. They are closed on Sundays.

Edisto Discovery Park (1914 Wiley St.), Emily Douglas Park (2500 Wheat St.), Heathwood Park (80 Abelia Rd.), Melrose Park (1500 Fairview Rd.), Sims Park (3500 Duncan St.), and Anna’s Park (1315 Liberty Hill Ave.) have spray pools open from Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. They are closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

Spray pools at Mays Park (4100 Trenholm Rd.) and Pacific Park (200 Wayne St.) are available upon request.

The Drew Park splash pad (2101 Walker Solomon Way) is open from Monday to Saturday, 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., and closed on Sundays. The spray pad at Hyatt Park (950 Jackson Ave.) and Roy Lynch Park (900 Abbeville St.) is user-operated and available from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. when the park is open.
