Booker T. Washington High School Boys Basketball Team Makes History
The Booker T. Washington High School boys basketball team created history by qualifying for the Universal Interscholastic League state tournament for the first time. The team defeated Silsbee High School 78-70 at regionals to qualify for the state tournament. The team had previously appeared in the Prairie View Interscholastic League state tournament in 1946 and 1952, which were not affiliated with the UIL. After 70 years, the team is officially state-bound.
Washington High School Boys Basketball Team Qualifies for the UIL State Championship
After an incredible season of hard work, dedication, and commitment, the Booker T. Washington High School boys basketball team will compete in the UIL State Championship game. The team defeated Boerne High School 75-69 in the semifinals to qualify for their first-ever appearance in the championship game. HISD Athletics Director Andre’ Walker expressed his pride in the team’s success and highlighted their strong teamwork and readiness to tackle the challenge they face in the championship game. The Golden Eagles will take on the Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy at 7 p.m. on March 11th in the San Antonio Alamodome.
