The Carolina International event may have come to an end, but we’re still buzzing from all the excitement of the ten-year anniversary celebration at Setters’ Run Farm. The event marked 25 years at the Carolina Horse Park and saw record-breaking performances, music videos, hat tricks, and even a game of football. While my Eventing Manager team did not pick the winner, my non-horsey husband beat me in the rankings yet again. Maybe one day, I will trust the stats more than the emotions I feel towards certain horses. Relive all the action with a H&C+ subscription.
Moving on to upcoming events, the Full Gallop Farm March II H.T., the March Horse Trials at Majestic Oaks, and the Texas Rose Horse Park H.T. are just around the corner. For those interested in the latest news and reading, there are plenty of topics to explore. Sadly, eventing legend Don Geniro has retired, but we wish him and his new rider all the best in their dressage adventures. The National Equine Forum addressed various issues affecting the equine industry and showcased the masterclass of eventing greats Pippa Funnell and Tina Cook. Meanwhile, British eventers were out in force in Lincolnshire with Oliver Townend and several Badminton entries taking home wins.
In other news, Tania Millen of Horse Journals examines gender equity and equality in equestrian sports around the world. Additionally, we explore the concept of a growth mindset – a mindset that can be of great help in equestrianism given its numerous ups and downs. Lastly, we have a request to help a University of Edinburgh student with her MSc in Equine Science dissertation survey. The research is about noseband tightness, whisker clipping, and volunteering at competitions.
