Happy the Smiling Calf Becomes a Public Favorite in Australia
A Holstein Friesian bull calf with black and white markings shaped like a smiley face has captured the hearts of many people in Australia’s south. The calf’s breeders, Megan and Barry Coster, named him “Happy” when they discovered the unique markings on his side last week.
Happy’s Sale and Donation
The Costers decided to sell the one-month-old calf to Farm World for $10,000 AUD ($6,652 USD), and the proceeds of the sale will be donated to the West Gippsland Hospital.
Happy’s Popularity
According to stud breeder Karen Morham, Happy has quickly become a public favorite. School kids have flocked to see him, and he’s stood up for them so they can see his smiling face. Morham says, “Oh my goodness, Happy has been so popular!”
Happy’s New Role
Happy will now serve as the mascot for Farm World, an agricultural and farming event. He will live on the site at Lardner Park in Victoria and continue to bring joy and smiles to all who see him.
