Canadian Sikh Sets New Guinness World Record for Longest Beard
A Canadian Sikh has set a new Guinness World Record for the world’s longest beard on a living person, measuring a remarkable 8 feet and 3 inches in length.
Breaking His Own Record
The previous record was also held by Sarwan Singh, who initially set the record in 2008 with a beard measuring 2.33 m (7 ft 8 in). He went on to extend the record with a beard of 2.495 m (8 ft 2.5 in) in 2010. However, when his beard was remeasured on October 15, 2023, it had grown even longer, beating his own record once again.
Untrimmed and Natural Hair
Mr. Singh, who practices Sikhism, has never trimmed his beard. He considers it a gift from God and an important aspect of his faith. According to the Guinness World Record, the hair must be natural and damp before being measured to ensure that the curls do not alter the length of the measurement.
A Time-Consuming Maintenance Routine
Despite the incredible length of his beard, Singh has a dedicated maintenance routine that he follows each day. He gives each hair individual attention, which can be very time-consuming.
“Since the early age of 17 when the beard started growing in, I’ve kept it the same way,” said Sarwan Singh. “It’s seen as one of the most important aspects of being a Sikh.”
Conclusion
Sarwan Singh’s incredible beard has gained him worldwide attention and earned him his place in the Guinness World Records. His dedication to his faith and his tireless efforts in maintaining his beard make him an inspiration to many.
