Rocky Vista Health Center, located in Ivins, Utah, opened in August 2023, fulfilling a long-awaited community need for a full-spectrum family practice. Clinical Director and family medicine provider, Dr. Steven Harmon, said one of the key services offered is women’s healthcare, which is frequently sought after by women in the St. George area. The facility provides a supportive environment for a wide range of concerns unique to women, including heart health, cancer, breast health, sexual health, osteoporosis, thyroid disease, rheumatologic diseases, multiple sclerosis, infertility, endometriosis and menopause.
In addition to women’s health, the practice offers primary care, pediatrics and adult and senior family medicine, telemedicine appointments, acute care for problems such as stitches, urinary tract infections, and respiratory infections. They also perform minor procedures like lesion removals and toenail removals, administer immunizations, and provide various physical exams.
The medical center has its own laboratory on-site, allowing patients to complete lab work in-house and receive online access to medical results for convenience. Chronic diseases including high blood pressure, diabetes, and chronic headaches, along with anxiety and depression, are also treated in-house. They also have the ability to evaluate the heart with electrocardiograms.
A patient-centered approach is emphasized, with providers taking the time to understand the unique story of each patient and treating them accordingly. Collaborative and team-based care is a priority, which sets them apart from other one-stop-shop medicine providers. The goal is for each female patient to feel heard, have a plan for their well-being, and be confident in their ability to live the healthiest life possible.
Fluent in medical Spanish, Dr. Harmon is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and received procedural training in osteopathic manipulative medicine, dermatology procedures, and joint aspiration and injection during his family medicine residency in Boise, Idaho. The practice plans to grow and add another provider later this year to better support and meet the community’s needs.
