Proposed bill stops ban on gas cars.

Republican lawmakers introduce legislation to prevent elimination of internal combustion engine vehicles

U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-Schuylerville, has joined 66 other Republican lawmakers as an original cosponsor of HR1435, a bill introduced by Rep. John Joyce, R-PA on March 8. The proposed legislation would add language to the federal Clean Air Act to prevent the elimination of automotive vehicles with internal combustion engines.

State Sen. Jake Ashby, R-Castleton, on March 10 introduced legislation to make permanent a requirement that portions of state contracts be awarded to businesses owned by veterans with service-connected disabilities. The requirement was initially established in 2014 and temporarily extended as part of the 2019-20 fiscal year budget.

Adirondack Council praises budget proposals including climate change study funding

The Adirondack Council applauded the inclusion of funding for a comprehensive survey of climate and water bodies in the Adirondack Park in the proposed budgets of both the state Senate and Assembly. Gov. Kathy Hochul did not propose any funding for this project in her initial budget plan.

Republican lawmakers propose pipeline permitting legislation

U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-Schuylerville, is the only New York cosponsor of HR1058, a bill introduced by Rep. Kelly Armstrong, R-N.D., on Feb. 17 in response to President Joe Biden’s cancellation of the Keystone XL pipeline project. The proposed legislation would streamline the approval process for transcontinental energy supply lines, removing politics from the process and ultimately helping to reduce energy costs for families.
