Husband and Wife Help Local Businesses with Their Digital Storefronts
A husband and wife team in Newfane, Niagara County, are using their skills and experiences to assist local businesses in navigating their digital storefronts. Kate Corcoran and her husband, Jeff, have combined their backgrounds in small businesses and website design to create Mom and Pop Web Stuff. Their main focus is on creating and maintaining websites specifically for businesses in the Niagara County area.
Inspiration for Mom and Pop Web Stuff
Kate Corcoran’s frequent visits to small towns and their main streets, combined with her mother’s ownership of a barbershop in her hometown of Horseheads, inspired her to pursue the idea of helping small businesses. She noticed that many of these businesses either did not have a website or had one that was not easily accessible. This frustration, along with Jeff’s web design and software experience, led them to start their business in October of last year.
Expanding Their Services
Initially, the focus of Mom and Pop Web Stuff was on providing web assistance to service-based businesses such as plumbers and painters. However, they soon realized that businesses of all types, including biker bars and coffee shops, could benefit from their services. They have since worked with over two dozen businesses in Niagara County.
A Sense of Community
Kate and Jeff aim to not only provide cost-effective web assistance to businesses but also to bring local, small businesses closer together. They believe in fostering a sense of community rather than viewing other businesses as competition. Their goal is to create a non-profit group and establish three businesses that can be passed down to each of their three sons.
The Future of Mom and Pop Web Stuff
Mom and Pop Web Stuff’s future plans include expanding their mission of helping small businesses by creating a non-profit group. They also hope to establish a total of three businesses that can be passed down to each of their three sons. Their dedication to supporting local businesses and their passion for creating accessible and efficient websites make them a valuable asset to the Niagara County community.
