Washington University is launching its first new school division in 100 years, named the School of Public Health, which aims to educate students on the intersecting factors of public health through a combination of existing aspects of public health across the university. The education programming will include a master’s degree and doctoral programme, as well as a new undergraduate major in public health. Located in Brown School, the new school will focus on researching equitable routes to providing healthcare, eliminating health disparities and developing interdisciplinary approaches to solving complex problems. Led by Debra Haire-Joshu, the School is hoping to submit an application to the Council on Education for Public Health in 2024, with accreditation expected by 2026. The school is also expected to help faculty and students engage in interdisciplinary teaching and learning approaches.
