Main Part of NBC Sports NASCAR Power Rankings
Martin Truex Jr. holds on to the top spot in this week’s NBC Sports NASCAR Power Rankings, but he faces a challenge from a teammate at Joe Gibbs Racing.
After the race at Richmond last weekend, both RFK drivers have climbed into the top 10 rankings. The race was won by Chris Buescher.
NBC SPORTS NASCAR POWER RANKINGS
1. Martin Truex Jr. (Last week: 1st)
Truex Jr. has finished first, third, and seventh in the last three races, accumulating 137 points. He currently leads in points and has three victories this season. These accomplishments keep him in the top spot for this week’s rankings, although he has a teammate closing in on him.
2. Denny Hamlin (3)
Hamlin has finished seventh, first, and second in the last three races, earning 144 points. He has moved up to second in the points standings. Truex Jr. retains the No. 1 spot because he has one more victory, one more top five, and two more top 10 finishes compared to Hamlin this season.
3. Kyle Busch (5)
Busch’s third-place finish at Richmond marks his fifth top-five result in the last eight races.
4. Joey Logano (6)
Logano’s fourth-place finish at Richmond is his fourth top-five finish in the last eight races.
5. Chase Elliott (8)
Elliott’s 13th-place finish at Richmond was the highest among Hendrick drivers, making it the fifth time in the last seven races that he has been the top finishing Hendrick driver. He currently sits 40 points away from the cutline after achieving seven consecutive top-15 finishes.
6. Kyle Larson (2)
Despite winning at Richmond in the spring, Larson struggled and finished 19th in the recent race. He has placed 19th or worse in three out of his last four races.
7. William Byron (4)
Byron was not a contender at Richmond and finished in 21st place. He has finished 13th or worse in four out of his last five races, with the exception of his win at Atlanta.
8. Kevin Harvick (10)
Harvick’s 10th-place finish at Richmond is his third consecutive top 10 finish.
9. Brad Keselowski (NR)
Keselowski has placed sixth or better in three out of his last four races, with a sixth-place effort at Richmond.
10. Chris Buescher (NR)
Buescher’s win at Richmond has propelled him into the top 10 rankings for this week as a driver for RFK Racing.
