Meet Ashley Butler
Ashley Butler is an abstract artist with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Miami University. She abandoned the corporate world to pursue her passion for oil painting and rock climbing. Butler specializes in creating large-scale oil paintings, acrylic paintings, and mixed media paintings. She also takes custom commission requests from clients.
Recently, Butler participated in the Women’s Art Club of Hamilton’s “New Views” exhibit held at The Strauss Gallery and Fitton Center.
Adventures with Explorer Chick
In addition to being an artist, Butler is also an adventure guide with Explorer Chick, an all-female adventure travel company. She teaches rock climbing, kayaking, rafting, and scuba diving to women who share her passion for the outdoors. Butler travels to exotic places and takes reference photos of the landscapes, which she later uses as inspiration for her artwork.
The Process of Creating
Butler deconstructs the shapes and colors of the landscapes she sees on her trips and turns them into something original. She believes that her lived experiences and adventures make her art unique.
