Gen-Z Congressman Takes Office
Maxwell Alejandro Frost was sworn into office earlier this year, becoming the first Gen-Z U.S. congressman.
Activism Ignited
Frost’s journey into public service began with activism following the tragic Sandy Hook school shooting in 2012, which claimed the lives of 26 people, including 20 children.
Frost shared, “I ended up going to the memorial that was going on. What changed everything for me was seeing the students and the teenagers and the kids that had lost loved ones or survived the shooting and hearing their stories. It was a lot for me at 15.”
Rallying Against Gun Violence
Driven by the issue of gun violence, Frost dedicated several years to organizing around it before deciding to run for public office.
The Youthful Voice
Frost expressed his honor at being the only representative of his generation in Congress. He acknowledges the diversity of ideologies within his generation and strives to avoid speaking for everyone.
Connecting Through Music
Latino USA producer Reynaldo Leaños Jr. traveled to Orlando to meet with Congressman Frost. During their conversation, Frost discussed growing up in Florida and how he uses music to connect with and unify his community.
Hearing Constituents’ Voices
Leaños also attended one of Frost’s community events to speak with constituents and gather their perspectives.
