Layla Lujan: Tehachapi’s Citizen of the Year
Layla Lujan, along with her brother Milo, was honored as Tehachapi’s Citizen of the Year in 2021. Growing up in the small town of Tehachapi, Layla has always been an exceptional individual. Her dedication, perseverance, and commitment to excellence have earned her numerous accolades throughout her life.
Achievements and Academic Success
Layla’s journey towards success began when she completed her studies at the Naval Academy Preparatory School (NAPS) in May. Her hard work paid off when she received admission to the prestigious U.S. Naval Academy’s Class of 2027. This remarkable achievement not only showcases Layla’s intellectual capability but also her unwavering determination to serve her country.
A Strong Foundation
Layla is the proud daughter of Mano and Mei Mei Lujan. Her educational journey started at Cummings Valley School, where she developed a strong academic foundation. Continuing her studies at Jacobsen Middle School and Tehachapi High School further nourished her intellect and prepared her for future challenges.
A Transition and Graduation
Later on, Layla transferred to Garces Memorial High School, where she continued to excel both academically and personally. The vibrant and supportive environment at Garces enabled Layla to broaden her horizons and embrace new opportunities. In 2022, she proudly graduated from Garces, with her remarkable achievements applauded by the entire community.
Embarking on a New Chapter
Following a short visit to Tehachapi after her graduation from NAPS, Layla embarked on her new chapter on the East Coast. In late June, she began her remarkable journey at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis. This milestone signifies Layla’s commitment to serving her country and continuing to pursue excellence in her chosen path.
