L.A. declares state of emergency amid Palisades wildfire
The city of Los Angeles has officially declared a state of emergency in response to the wildfire that has been burning in the Palisades area. The fire, which has so far consumed thousands of acres of land, prompted officials to take immediate action to protect residents and properties in the affected areas.
As the flames continue to spread, authorities have urged residents to evacuate their homes in order to ensure their safety. The Los Angeles Fire Department has been working tirelessly to contain the blaze, but strong winds and dry conditions have made their efforts more challenging.
California National Guard mobilized
In addition to declaring a state of emergency, Governor Gavin Newsom has authorized the mobilization of the California National Guard to assist in firefighting operations. The National Guard’s resources and personnel will provide much-needed support to local firefighters as they work to contain the wildfire.
This marks the first time in nearly two years that the California National Guard has been mobilized for a domestic emergency. The decision to deploy these resources highlights the severity of the situation and the need for additional assistance in fighting the wildfire.
