Karshner Museum’s Earth Day Fest this Saturday.

Celebrate Earth Day at Karshner Museum

Join the Karshner Museum on Saturday, April 22 from 12-5 p.m. for the Earth Day Science and Arts Festival. Admission is FREE to the public! All are welcome to explore and engage in various activities and exhibits centered around the theme of “Invest in our Planet.”

Hands-On Learning Opportunities

The Burke Museum’s traveling exhibit and interactive stations, “Nature’s Networks,” will allow children and families to learn through artifacts and hands-on activities, showing how all life on earth is linked. Plants, animals, and people depend on each other to survive. Through this exhibit, visitors can discover what an ecosystem is and how to create healthy environments. Puyallup Historical Hatchery Foundation will also have a display and activities to demonstrate the life cycle of salmon and the importance of our hatchery in saving the salmon runs in our watershed.

Endangered Species Exploration

Children can participate in an exploration and mapping project of endangered species, receiving a passport to fill with stamps as they learn about endangered animals in our region and in other parts of the world. They can also create a piece of art about a chosen endangered species.

Wildlife Art Exhibit

Local wildlife artist Ryan Perry will display his artwork at the event. Perry has been creating wildlife art for several decades, and his work has received multiple awards and appeared in several national publications. Visitors can view his paintings of lions, elephants, and other majestic creatures, inspired by his travels around the world.

Tribal Storytelling

Puyallup Tribal storytellers will share stories about salmon, the first Salmon Ceremony, and more. Visitors can also learn some phrases in Twulshootseed, the language of the tribe.

Additional Activities

Visitors can make a poster about what we can do to help our planet. There will also be read-alouds of books and art projects for families, a special art exhibit from the US Artist Collective of handmade prints discussing clean water and resources, and a science exhibit exploring how habitats, resources, plants, and animals create an ecosystem and what adaptations animals have to survive.

Join Us for the Earth Day Science and Arts Festival

The Puyallup School District Science Department will present information about future Science Fairs for parents and families. Admission is free for all. Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 22 from 12-5 p.m. and come celebrate Earth Day with us at the Karshner Museum.
