Riding Opportunities for Women Motorcyclists on the Rise
STURGIS, S.D. – As the number of women motorcyclists increases, so does the availability of riding opportunities. The inaugural “Pearl’s Girl’s Ride” took off on Wednesday, offering a scenic journey through the beautiful Black Hills. Named after Pearl Hoel, the wife of Sturgis Rally founder Pappy Hoel, the Pearl’s Girls Ride was exclusively limited to 25 riders.
A Welcoming Experience for Riders of All Levels
The Rally Grand Marshal, Laura Klock, expressed that the small size of the group makes the ride more inclusive and welcoming to riders with varying levels of experience. As the 2023 Sturgis Rally Grand Marshal, Laura Klock explains, “If they have fear or something holding them back, these smaller rides can help them dip their toes into the experience with a group of mixed experience riders.”
Discovering the Beauty of the Northern Hills
Led by Beka Zerbst, a lifelong Sturgis resident and City Council member, the three-hour ride took participants on a mesmerizing tour of some of Zerbst’s favorite locations in the scenic northern hills.
