Main Part
The goal of the workshop is to discuss New Approach Methods (NAMs) for the assessment of dermal sensitizers. Key international stakeholders and experts from government and industry will come together to discuss the current state of science and future areas of research in order to help risk assessors establish appropriate potency-based safe use limits for dermal sensitizers within regulatory frameworks.
The workshop will feature presentations from various experts in the field. Dr. Anne Marie Api from RIFM will discuss the current state-of-the-science for evaluating the dermal sensitization potential of new chemicals under TSCA using NAMs and NGRA. Dr. Shashi Donthamsetty from IFF will present the proposed NGRA framework for addressing skin sensitization. Dr. Andy Forreryd will discuss the Senzagen NAMS-GARDskin Dose Response assay and GARDskin potency assay. Dr. Anna Lowit from EPA will lecture on the approaches to evaluating dermal sensitization, including fragrance materials, under TSCA – EPA approach. Dr. Emily Reinke from Inotiv will talk about using artificial neural networks, support vector machine models, Bayesian networks, and decision trees. Dr. Vanessa Rocha from Givaudan will discuss an integrated skin sensitization assessment based on OECD Methods, Hazard and Potency by Combining Kinetic Peptide Reactivity and the “2 out of 3” Defined Approach. Dr. Matthias Vey from IFRA will lecture on the risk management paradigm of IFRA Standards and the research program of IDEA built with the EU Commission.
Registration for the workshop is $95 for FSAC members and $195 for non-members. To register, click here.
