We are seeking a Business Director to oversee and drive the long-term growth and development of our two businesses, General Assembly and Assembly Line. This unique position presents the opportunity to work at the intersection of interior design and independent furniture design. This role focuses on business strategy, financial oversight, and fostering new opportunities while creatively thinking about how General Assembly and Assembly Line can become more integrated and grow towards each other.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development:
– Identify and develop opportunities to align and integrate General Assembly and Assembly Line.
– Navigate the challenges of building a relatively new business, providing strategic insight and actionable solutions.
– Develop and execute long-term strategies to support sustainable growth and creative collaboration.
– Lead initiatives to strengthen client and vendor relationships, positioning the businesses for future success.
Client Communication:
– Present budgets and expenses to clients with clarity and professionalism.
– Review and refine all client contracts.
– Ensure client communication is consistently positive and aligned with the brand’s values.
Financial Oversight:
– Manage invoicing processes to ensure accuracy and timely payments.
– Oversee project profitability tracking and leverage data to refine proposal
– Maintain and forecast company budgets, tracking expenses, income, and profitability goals.
– Ensure accurate bookkeeping in collaboration with the accounting firm.
Leadership and Collaboration:
– Collaborate with the existing operations team at Assembly Line, ensuring alignment with long-term goals.
– Build systems to support staff development, growth, and efficiency.
– Oversee hiring and onboarding processes as needed.
The ideal candidate will bring expertise in business development, experience navigating the challenges of scaling young businesses, and a passion for innovative problem-solving in creative industries.
Specific Qualifications Include:
– Proven track record in business development and scaling small to mid-sized businesses.
– Experience in creative industries (e.g., design, retail, or related fields) preferred.
– Strong organizational, financial management, and strategic planning skills.
– Proficiency with tools like QuickBooks, Harvest, and CRM or project management software.
– Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
– A creative, forward-thinking approach to solving business challenges and fostering innovation.
