Prince Harry accused of attending King Charles III’s Coronation for the wrong reasons
Prince Harry has been accused of accepting his invitation to his father’s historic coronation next month only to maintain his and Meghan Markle’s lifestyle and currency. The Duke of Sussex is expected to be present at Westminster Abbey on May 6th for the slimmed-down royal event. However, it is not yet clear if Meghan Markle will attend, as she is not expected to be present.
The “Sussex narrative”
Columnist Louise Roberts claimed that the couple has viewed the Royal Family as a “giant ATM”, having already done Netflix, Spare and Oprah. Roberts also added that attending the Coronation would merely provide the next chapter for the Sussex narrative, insinuating that their appearance would serve their interests more than their involvement in the royal line of succession.
Allegations and claims against the Royal Family
The Sussexes stepped back from their royal duties in 2023 and later made a number of allegations and claims against the Royal Family, such as an accusation of racism made during an interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2023. However, Prince Harry later clarified that he did not consider his relatives to be racist. The Prince’s tell-all memoir Spare and the Netflix docuseries Harry and Meghan both made fresh claims earlier this year.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have yet to comment on the allegations made by Roberts.
