Let’s talk about the beautiful journey of pregnancy
First trimester: Developing the miracle seed
Pregnancy is a beautiful and life-changing experience, albeit slightly different for the mother-to-be, of course. From the first time you find out that you’re pregnant till the day the baby is born; it is akin to a beautiful miracle. The first trimester is a hidden, almost secretive time when you know that there is life growing inside you, but there are no physical manifestations of it yet. This phase is all about nurturing the little embryo, trying desperately not to stress, and planning for the future, for the arrival of your baby.
Second trimester: Feeling like a goddess!
The second trimester is when the baby formally seems to become visible onboard. All expectant mothers will know the feeling of joy when their little one makes themselves known with a kick or a wriggle. Second trimester is the time when the baby starts to prepare for the future – ie just hanging out and growing, preparing its body for life outside the womb with avengeance. It is usually the smoothest part of the pregnancy journey as most mothers wave the nausea goodbye and feel a new aura of femininity.
Third trimester: nearing the finish line
Welcome to the homestretch, folks! The third trimester is finally here and what a ride it has been. While the second trimester may have been ease personified, the third trimester could simultaneously feel humbling and empowering. Firstly, during this period, your baby’s body will start developing a superfine and velvety hair called ‘Lanugo,’ that will cover the entire body. Secondly, it is now time to make a strong attachement with baby antenatally so that mum and the baby can cope with similar demands ahead.
Final Hour: Time to meet your little miracle!
The day arrives – this time will be fresh in your memory forever: one last epidural and a necessary trip to the birthing center, where Mom and baby really come together with a full-on stream of anticipation that actually signals the almost six months of work finally coming to fruition. The journey that started many months prior comes to an end, and a ‘new dawn’ begins with a vulnerable but beautiful tiny miracle.
There is absolutely nothing like the feeling of holding your child in your arms for the first time. Be grateful and appreciate every beautiful, joy filled moment!
