FLO Collaborates with Missy Elliott for New Single ‘Fly Girl’
British pop girl group FLO has teamed up with American rap legend Missy Elliott for their upcoming track ‘Fly Girl’. The song, which will be released on Thursday (23.03.23), samples Missy’s 2002 hit ‘Work It’ and features the iconic rapper herself. FLO took to Twitter to tease the collaboration by sharing their iMessage conversation with Missy, who promptly replied with a resounding “Let’s go!”
FLO Aims for Headline Slot at Coachella and the Cover of British Vogue
Not content with their BRIT Award win earlier this year, FLO now sets their sights on a headline slot at America’s Coachella festival and a feature on the cover of British Vogue. In an interview with Metro’s Guilty Pleasures column, Renée Downer revealed the band’s aspirations, saying, “Headline Coachella. Ooh, cover of British Vogue. Edward Enninful, if you’re listening, get in touch.”
FLO’s Rise to Prominence
The British trio of Stella Quaresma, Jorja Douglas and Renée Downer, collectively known as FLO, caught the public’s attention with their debut single ‘Cardboard Box’ last year. The song’s 1990s-inspired sound and colorful music video quickly earned FLO a growing fanbase.
FLO cites their win for BRITs Rising Star Award as their proudest achievement yet. They released their first body of work in 2023 and won the prestigious award in the same year, making them the first group to ever receive the recognition.
Upon receiving the award, the girls said in a statement, “We are so shocked and grateful. We are the first group to win the BRITs Rising Star! We’ve just made history and couldn’t have done it without our wonderful fans and supportive families. It’s truly a dream come true. We feel so empowered creating the music we love, and we hope others feel that too.”
