Michigan State University Science Festival: Celebrating STEAM With Free Events
The 11th annual Michigan State University Science Festival is back, and this time it’s bigger and better than ever. With a full schedule of free events that celebrate and explore science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM), there’s plenty to keep everyone engaged and learning. The festival kicks off on April 1 and runs throughout the month, with events held on MSU’s campus and select sites throughout the state.
Bringing Science Literacy to Communities Across Michigan
According to Kwesi Brookins, associate provost for University Outreach and Engagement, the festival aims to provide educational opportunities to learners of all ages and promote science literacy in communities throughout Michigan. “By offering a variety of programs, we hope to provide attendees with a better understanding of the world around us,” he said.
STEAM Expo Days: Diving into Science, Music, and Engineering
The first two days of the festival, April 1 and 2, are set to be exciting ones as attendees can explore the world of insects with a visit to the MSU Bug House, dive into the history of music through hands-on activities with MSU’s Community Music School, or even learn how to assemble batteries using lemons and potatoes with MSU professors of chemical engineering. These events are part of the STEAM Expo Days, and there’s plenty more to look forward to.
