Ex-Wales star Hannah Keryakoplis joins Wrexham.

Wrexham AFC Women Sign Welsh International Hannah Keryakoplis

Introduction

Keryakoplis, 29, has won 20 Wales caps, scoring three goals, and has previously played in the Women’s Super League with both Liverpool and Birmingham City.

Local Roots

Born and bred in North Wales, Keryakoplis is returning home to join forces with Steve Dale’s side. She has signed a semi-professional contract ahead of Wrexham’s first season in the Genero Adran Premier, pending international clearance.

An Honor to Represent

On signing, Keryakoplis expressed her excitement, stating: “It’s a big honor for me. I’ve been playing football my whole life, and this is my hometown, so when Steve approached me it was something I was very interested in.
To be honest, within five minutes I knew where my head and heart was at – it was a very easy decision for me. With the way Wrexham AFC is going at the moment, it’s a massive honor to represent the Club and I can’t wait to get started.”

A Football Legacy

Keryakoplis carries football heritage within her, being the great-granddaughter of ex-Wrexham player Tommy Gardner, a former England international.

Impressive Career

Having played at youth level with Tranmere Rovers and Liverpool, Keryakoplis broke into the latter’s first team to help them win the FAWPL Northern Division in 2010. She made her senior Wales debut in 2011 at just 17 years old.

Experience in Women’s Super League

Representing Liverpool in the WSL, Keryakoplis then had a spell with Stoke City before returning to the women’s top flight with Birmingham City. She scored against her former side as the Blues finished third, narrowly missing out on top spot, in 2014.

In 2015, Keryakoplis returned to Stoke, scoring an impressive 46 goals in 68 games for the Potters.

Most recently, she played for Derby County, continuing her prolific attacking form during her time with the Rams.

A Warm Welcome to Wrexham

Manager Steve Dale expressed his delight with the signing, stating: “I’m delighted to welcome Hannah to Wrexham; she’s a player who I know a lot about and know that she will be a fantastic addition to the squad.
Hannah has played at a good level and will bring a wealth of knowledge & experience to the group. We feel that her experience and character will help set good standards within the group and we have already seen the quality she poses within a short period of time since she’s been training with us.
Hannah will be a real asset to the playing squad at Wrexham, and we can’t wait to see her in action in a red shirt.”
