Eden Prairie High School Junior Named Finalist in International Science Competition
Yash Dagade, a junior at Eden Prairie High School, has been announced as one of four finalists in the Regeneron International Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF). His project, titled “WATT from VAWT: Design of a Novel Vertical Airborne Wind Turbine (VAWT) Clean Energy Farm,” earned him a spot in the prestigious competition.
The State Science & Engineering Fair
To qualify for the Regeneron ISEF, Dagade presented his project at the Minnesota State Science & Engineering Fair (SSEF). The SSEF, organized by the Minnesota Academy of Science, attracted more than 300 middle and high school students from over 50 schools across Minnesota.
Various companies and organizations offered awards worth over $15,000 to students who advanced from regional science fairs to compete in the SSEF, including Dagade.
The Regeneron ISEF
The Regeneron ISEF is the world’s largest science competition for pre-college students. It recognizes the top high school projects in Minnesota and features participants from around the world.
The 2023 ISEF competition will be held in Dallas, Texas from May 14-19. Dagade will compete against three other students for top honours in the competition.
Awards & Recognition
Dagade received numerous awards for his project at the SSEF awards ceremony, including the Minnesota Academy of Science Silver Award, the High School LHB Corp Outstanding Engineering or Building Science Award, and the High School Naval Science Award.
