Fundraiser to Increase Reward for Information in Highlands Double Shooting
A fundraiser is taking place on Saturday to raise the reward for information regarding a deadly double shooting at a Highlands restaurant in April. The event will be hosted by Clancy’s Irish Pub at 7000 W. 38th Ave. and is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
Victims Found Dead at American Elm Restaurant
The victims, Emerall Vaughn-Dahler, 34, and Ignacio “Nacho” Gutierrez Morales, 58, were discovered deceased at the American Elm restaurant on West 38th Avenue, where they worked on April 24.
Possible Robbery Motive
Denver Police Chief Ron Thomas previously stated that robbery “appeared to be the motive” in the homicides, although investigators have not been able to confirm this.
Community-Led Fundraising Event
Denver Metro Crime Stoppers announced a community-led fundraising event to support justice for the victims. The event aims to remember their lives and increase the reward for information leading to the resolution of these unsolved homicides.

The event, organized by concerned community members, will feature raffle prizes donated by various local businesses and restaurants including Clancy’s Irish Pub, GetRight’s Bakery & Plant Shop, Infinitus Pizza PIE, Stylus and Crate, Joyride Brewing Company, Talnua Distillery, Breckenridge Brewery, Woody’s Wood Fired Pizza, Illegal Pete’s, Wolf + Wildflower, Pietra’s Pizzeria & Italian Restaurant, Mestizo Brew Cantina, West 29th Restaurant ~ Bar, Odyssey Beerwerks Brewery & Taproom, AEG Worldwide, Out of Step Clay, Colorado Plus Brew Pub and Taphouse, and The Bardo Coffee House.
Live Music Performances
The event will also include live music performances by Guerrilla Radio (Rage Against the Machine Tribute) and Sabotage (Beastie Boys Tribute).
Increase in Reward to $25,000
In June, the reward for information related to this case was increased to $25,000.
