Summary
Dr. Dale Bazan is the coordinator of Clinical Experiences for the University of Nevada, Reno, where he oversees student teaching internships. He has presented at international, national, state, and local conferences on various topics related to teaching and research. His research interests include teacher preparation, teacher identity development, foundations of teaching, creative process, popular musicianship, and social justice. He has been published in journals such as The Bulletin of the Council of Research in Music Education, Update: Applications of Research in Music Education, Research Perspectives in Music Education, and The Finnish Journal of Music Education. He has also served as an Editorial Board Member and Reviewer for Contributions to Music Education, The Journal of Music and Dance, Urban Education, and Middle Grades Research Journal. Dr. Bazan is also an active performer and has conducted various bands and musicals in North America.
Before pursuing graduate studies, Dr. Bazan worked as an English/Language Arts/Drama teacher in Canada for five years and as a 5-12 Instrumental Music Teacher in Canada and the United States for 11 years. He has taught at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, University of Alaska Anchorage, and University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Additionally, he was involved in designing courses for online Masters of Music Education programs at Kent State University and the University of Florida.
