Project Grants Available for Artists and Groups in Newtown

Published: Mar 26, 2023 08:00 AM

The Newtown Cultural Arts Commission is offering two project grants totaling $2,500 to support the arts in Newtown. The grants will be awarded in two categories: individual artists and groups.

Individual artists must be residents of Newtown, while groups must be established entities in Newtown, although they do not need to be registered as 501(c)(3) non-profits.

The application deadline for both individual and organization grants is May 15, 2023, and applications can be downloaded from the Newtown Arts Commission’s website. The grants are funded by proceeds from the 2023 Newtown Arts Festival, which is a project of the Cultural Commission.

Previous winners of the organization grants include Flagpole Photographers, The Town Players, Stray Kats, Friends of Newtown Seniors, and The Clay Date Potters. Individual grant winners include artist Virginia Zimmerman, muralist Lindsay Fuori, and sculptural wood artist and furniture maker Johnny A. Williams.

Winning artists and groups will be invited to showcase their work at the 2023 Newtown Arts Festival on September 23-24 at Fairfield Hills. If you’re an artist or a group in Newtown, this is the perfect opportunity to get funding and show off your talents to the community.
