Indian Students Association Celebrates Culture and Heritage with “Indian Night” Event
The Indian Students Association at Central Michigan University is excited to host their annual “Indian Night” event on April 22 at McGuirk Arena. This event, which celebrates Indian culture and heritage, is open to all students and families in the Mount Pleasant community.
At “Indian Night,” attendees will have the opportunity to experience Indian culture firsthand with cultural performances, music, and authentic Indian cuisine. The event aims to provide a platform for interaction with members of the Indian community on campus and learning more about their culture and traditions.
Sagar Manilal, the president of the Indian Students Association, described the event as “a fun-filled evening that celebrates the beauty and richness of Indian culture.”
Last semester’s Diwali event had over 950 attendees, and this year’s “Indian Night” is expected to be even bigger with an estimated 1100 attendees. The event has received funding from various sponsors, including the President’s Office, College of Business Administration, Accounting department, College of Education and Human Sciences, College of the Arts and Media, Leadership Institute, Graduate Studies, College of Engineering, and Veedu.
Registration and Details
Registration for the event is free and open to all international and local students. Attendees can expect an evening filled with cultural performances, including dance, singing, and a fashion show. There are approximately 20 to 25 acts planned, and some early arrivals at the event will be rewarded with gift cards.
The event will take place from 5 to 9:30 p.m. at McGuirk Arena and is expected to be a memorable celebration of Indian culture and heritage.
“We want the students who came in spring to feel at home, and we want to share the cultural vibes with the internationals and locals here,” added Manilal.
