HATTIESBURG Bootcamp Helps Young Men Prepare for School Year
The Needham Jones Bootcamp is currently underway at the African American Military History Museum in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. This week, the camp is being held from Monday through Wednesday, starting at 9 a.m. and ending at 1 p.m. It will also take place next Monday and Tuesday during the same time.
The goal of this program is to equip young men, aged 12 to 15, with valuable techniques, skills, and tips to effectively navigate and find success in the upcoming school year and throughout their lives.
Various activities, lectures, and discussions are included in the camp, covering important areas such as communication, confidence building, citizenship, team building, career exploration, and health and wellness.
The current session has reached its full participant capacity and has been led by MSG David Brooks. Next week, MSG Torrance Green will lead the camp.
Upcoming Schedule
- July 17 – Campers will enjoy a walking tour of downtown Hattiesburg, which will include stops at the fire station, the Vernon Dahmer statue, Veterans Memorial Park, and Nelson Haskins restaurants. The tour will conclude with lunch at Blu Jazz Cafe.
- July 18 – Campers will engage in a review and discussion of the six principles and lessons from the Tuskegee Airmen.
