President Biden Plans Travel Blitz to Highlight Economic Agenda
The White House has announced a three-week travel blitz, starting on Tuesday, to showcase President Biden’s economic agenda and investments through legislation passed last year. Named the “Investing in America tour”, Biden and administration officials will visit more than 20 states, including North Carolina where he will visit a chips manufacturer. The trip will highlight legislative accomplishments from the past year, including the CHIPS and Science Act and the Inflation Reduction Act.
Congressional Recess
The tour will run concurrently with a two-week congressional recess, with administration officials expecting lawmakers to join them at various stops, including Arkansas, California, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Ohio, Oregon, Tennessee, Vermont, Wisconsin, and North Carolina. A White House official said, “The tour will reinforce what’s at stake for hardworking families across the country if Republicans in Congress get their way and repeal the Inflation Reduction Act and slash funding for manufacturing, research, and innovation.”
Similar to Previous White House Travel
The tour is similar to previous White House travel to promote the American Rescue Plan and the bipartisan infrastructure law. The administration is seeking to educate the public on their accomplishments and agenda as they continue to draw contrasts with Republican efforts to claw back funding or reform government programs. Although officials maintain the economy is strong, polling data suggests a lukewarm response to Biden’s performance, with his approval rating dropping to 38% in a recent Associated Press-NORC poll.
