Traffic Woes in Bengaluru
Bengaluru is notorious for its heavy traffic and long hours of traffic jams. Public transport is scarce in the city, and it is quite normal for people to rely on private cabs and ride-hailing services like Ola and Uber. A recent incident where a man was shocked by the prices of Uber cabs only adds to the list of transport problems in the city.

One user, who was traveling from the airport to Electronic City, shared his experience on Twitter. He wrote, “Uber fare to Bangalore Airport from E-City cost of cab fare is dangerously close to what I paid for the flight ticket.” He also shared a screenshot of the prices which showed that Uber Premium was priced at Rs 2,584 for a 52-km distance, whereas Uber XL was priced at an exorbitant Rs 4,051.

The exorbitant prices shocked many people on the internet. The tweet went viral and garnered over 80,000 views and 740 likes. People couldn’t believe that the prices were so high, even during off-peak hours like 6 in the morning.
Alternative Options
People responded to the tweet, sharing their own experiences. Some discovered that AC buses are available and can be quite comfortable, while others called their drivers or preferred to walk instead.
A person also added that not only the price but the travel time is mostly equal if flying domestically. Some even went as far as saying that ride-hailing services have started looting people with their exorbitant prices.
The Situation in Bengaluru
Bengaluru’s transport problems are not a new issue, and this incident only highlights the need for better transportation options in the city. With the worsening traffic situation, a reliable public transportation system needs to be put in place to ease the burden on people who depend on private modes of transportation like cabs and ride-hailing services.
While the incident may have shocked one man, it has shed light on a bigger problem affecting the city’s overall transportation situation.
