Riverton Middle School Students Win First Place in Science Olympiad State Competition
Riverton Middle School in Fremont County, WY has a long-standing reputation for excelling in science, and the trend continued in the 2023 school year. The Science Olympiad team coached by Sarah Fanning took first place in this month’s state competition organized in Casper. The win secured a spot for the school to participate in the national contest in Wichita, Kansas in May.
The competition features 23 different events, ranging from building things to test-taking, and attracts state champions from around the country. Fanning mentioned that the 15 Spartans representing RMS are working at high school and college levels despite being 12 and 13-year-olds. The school is looking to offset some of the expenses associated with the travel to the national contest, which includes accommodation, food, and transportation.
RMS Organizes Raffle to Support Science Olympiad Team
RMS has organized a raffle opportunity, and the proceeds will go towards the costs that the students and the chaperones will incur during the trip. The raffle prizes include a Yeti cooler and a new chainsaw, and tickets can be purchased by contacting the school or coordinating with a Science Olympiad student. Anyone interested can reach Riverton Middle School at (307) 856-9443, or get in touch with Sarah Fanning via email at [email protected].
