English Language and Culture Courses for International Students Available at U of A This Summer
International students at the University of Arkansas have the opportunity to enroll in English language and culture courses during the upcoming summer semesters. This program offers students a chance to improve their English language proficiency while also familiarizing themselves with American culture. The registration deadline for courses is April 21.
Courses Offered
Two writing courses are included in the available options:
- Academic Writing Across Disciplines: This foundational writing course is scheduled for the summer intersession, May 15-25.
- Research Writing in STEM Fields: This course runs during the first five-week summer session from May 30 to June 30.
“Writing is an essential tool for academic success, and we are excited to offer these opportunities for international students to hone their skills together this summer,” said Joseph Poniatowski, instructor of English Language and Culture courses (ELAC).
About the Program
The ELAC program is housed in the Graduate School and International Education. This program is tailored to support non-native speakers of English by providing language and cultural training, as well as academic writing support. Participants in the program have an opportunity to work with experienced instructors, get feedback on their writing, and interact with other students from diverse backgrounds.
