Multiple sources familiar with the investigation have revealed that the special counsel prosecutors have secured evidence of how former President Donald Trump handled classified records at the Mar-a-Lago resort. The evidence includes daily notes, texts, emails, and photographs. The investigation is focused on cataloging every detail about the handling of these records, as well as on gathering information from those who may have witnessed President Trump working with them.

The Department of Justice appears to be taking steps similar to those taken in the final stages of an investigation. Recent activity in front of a federal grand jury in Washington, DC, includes subpoenas to witnesses who previously spoke with investigators in March and April. The grand jury appearances are transcribed and under oath, indicating that prosecutors are preparing to lock in witness testimony.

The former President’s actions are at the center of the ongoing mishandling of records and obstruction of justice probes. Prosecutors are now focused on evidence of President Trump’s intent to keep classified records after leaving office, as well as his knowledge that the records remained in his possession after he was asked by the Justice Department to return them last May.
